How to Ground Yourself During Times of Stress

I don’t know about you, but being grounded and relaxed is simply one of the most blissful feelings in life. Naturally that doesn’t always happen and sometimes I wakeup on the wrong side of the bed, so I have developed some ways to re-ground myself during times of stress. Next time you feel like the ground under you is shaken, try Jac’s Tips below to feel more grounded, happy and grateful.

1. Go for a Walk

There is something about going for a walk, rain or shine, that brightens your day. I always put on music or a podcast and focus on all the beautiful things around me. 15-20 minutes is all it takes to completely turn your mood around.

2. Do a Quick Journal: 3×3 Method

If you know me you know I swear by this. 3 things you want to release, 3 things you are grateful for, 3 things you want to get done and are non-negotiable.

Example:

I release – 1) my anxiety and stress and breathe into the present moment, 2) my negative self-talk about my body, 3) my need to control everything.

I am grateful for – 1) Being able to move my body and nourish it, 2) My loved ones health and safety, 3) Sunny blue skies and birds singing.

To do List – 1) Do a load of laundry, 2) Complete 30 Minutes of Movement, 3) Go for a walk outside.

3. Do Something Productive

You know that instant gratification you get from completing something on your to do list? It is one of the simplest ways to turn your mood around. It could be as small as do a load of laundry, write a blog post or clean out the fridge — But I promise you it will help you feel happier and more productive!

4. Put on your Favourite Song and Dance it out

I swear this works. I used to laugh at it — But holy it can turn your whole mood around. Lock yourself in your room, put your headphones in and dance it out for a 3 minute song.
